Challenge unhelpful thinking
Build trust in yourself
Rebuild your resilience
Do you have a nagging feeling that something is wrong but you can't quite put your finger on what it's about?
Have you been feeling disconnected from people and the things you care about?
If someone was to ask you what you do for fun do you think to yourself something like, "Fun?! You what?! I remember that! I really don't have time for that now."
Maybe you'd like to have plans but you're just too tired at the end of the work day to spark the energy up to do any of it. It could be that there are things you look forward to but when it comes to the time you're just not feeling up for it (or up to it).
Maybe you get a cold every time you take a few days off or on the rare occasion your diary is a little less busy than usual.
Maybe you use the weekends to catch up on your sleep bed and sometimes you have down days and just want to lie under a duvet and quietly cry. You don't know where the tears are coming from or why you feel sad, there's no obvious reason, you just do.
It doesn’t need to be this way.
If any of these sounds like how you are feeling right now, I can help you.
I can work with you to help to re-find your balance, then help you to get back to feeling empowered, to reconnect with yourself and your sense of purpose and turn your life around for the better.
There are times when life feels like a struggle or overwhelming. We may feel tense, agitated, anxious or depressed, have a sense of being stuck or being lost.
I offer a safe, confidential, honest and open non-judgemental space where I act as your facilitator in a process where we can talk about, understand, explore and reflect on:
It may be that you feel unclear about what you really want or what you can do. A part of this is working with you to recognise these things and identifying choices you didn't recognise you had.
Hello. My name is Emma. I am a counsellor based in Cardiff in South Wales in the UK.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work according to their ethical framework. I am fully insured, registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for GDPR purposes and hold an up to date Enhanced DBS (previously known as a CRB check).
I work with young people and adults aged 18 and over.
I work face-to-face locally and throughout the UK via telephone or online.
My previous experience has included working for local and national charities, in GP surgeries for Cardiff & Vale NHS UHB and for an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
I offer a free 30 minute discovery call where we can discover what each other are like, what you aim to gain and come away with from our work together and whether we feel like a good match to work together.
If you like what you see and think that you would like us to work together or have any questions, please drop me an email so I can better understand your situation and challenge and we can see if we feel like a good fit to work together.
Here’s what some of my previous clients have to say about working with me:
Laura
" Emma was instrumental in my road to better mental health. Prior to meeting Emma, I had experienced a number of events in my personal life that led to me entering a deep depression. Emma helped me change my perceptions and how I viewed myself and thereby aided in my recovery and develop a better understanding of my worth in the world. "
Becky
" I've started to feel a bit lighter and like I have more resilience. I'm still stressed but only down to a certain level and feel like my brain is quicker to kick in and give myself a reality check. I still value people's opinion but overall care less about their validation. I'm trying to exercise this new approach and attitude and am happy it's happened so quickly. It's still hard to tap into on occasion but it's reassuring to have it even some of the time! "
Claire
" I found my time with Emma very useful, helping me to build a 'toolkit' in dealing with my anxiety that has helped to lessen the impact to my day to day life. I am more able to recognise when I am slipping to negative thought patterns and can rationalise things more effectively. There was a marked improvement in my overall well-being by the end of my sessions. "
Nia
" Having had some time to think, I have decided I now feel that I am at a point where I am strong enough to leave counselling for the moment (with the opportunity to come back if needed) and would like to thank Emma for all she has done for me through the difficult times. I really do appreciate all she has done. "
Vicky
" You have helped me to learn a lot about me… I feel that I have achieved a lot in a small amount of time. "
Lauren
" It’s good to be listened to without the judgement. This has been great. "
